White Wines

Frascati Superiore, 2006
Italy - £14
A light, dry refreshing wine from the hills around Rome.  
Uncomplicated and clean, this is a wine that lives well with
shellfish or just enjoy it as an aperitif.

Pinot Grigio, La Di Motte Estate, Livenza, 2006
Italy - £19
Botter is Italy’s largest bottler of house wines. 
In recent years Luca Botter has invested heavily in his private
family estate to produce a small range of nicely crafted, pristine
wines that are as individual as his bulk wines are anonymous.

Anakena Special Reserve Viognier, 2006
Chile - £18
Anekena make a range of pristine varietal wines that display a rare (for  Chile) intensity and balance.  The Reserve Viognier has fresh, lifted aromas of apricot and lemon with a long finish of ground almond and Ogen melon.

Sanderson Semillon, 2002
New Zealand - £20
A taut, nervy wine from Hawkes Bay.  The minerally edge is
laced with white pepper and capsicum – a remarkable and highly
individual drop

Vouvray Sec Fut de Chène Bourillon Dorleans, 2004
France - £21
Matured in old barrels from Chateau d’ Yquem in Bordeaux,
this adds richness and complexity and a touch of  sweetness.

Stormhoek The Siren Sauvignon Blanc, 2006
South Africa - £16
The cream of the crop from this well known estate is annually  
put into a special cuvee called The Siren.  Succulent and full 
bodied, this is classic South African Sauvignon.

Rare Dry Botrytis Semillon, De Bortoli, 1996

An extraordinary wine – Botrytis grapes are fermented almost dry,
giving an explosive mouthful of dried fruit and citrus.

Wonderful example of this very fashionable grape. Rich

Chablis 1er Cru Montmain, Denis Race, 2005

Denis Race’s Chablis are classically vibrant.   Fermented in stainless
steel for purity, his vineyard includes 60 year-old vines.

Henschke Innes Pinot Gris, 2001

Rich and elegant wine with all the spicy character you
expect from this grape – a fine example.

Pouilly Fuissé, Terrior de Fuissé, Olivier Merlin, 2001

Perhaps the best known wine from the Macon area,
this Pouilly Fuissé has all the hall-marks of a great Burgundy
with glorious buttery character and sophisticated fruit.

Already a legend, Planeta is a stellar winery in Western
Sicily. Their Chardonnay simply takes your breath away
with its poise and pristine acid/fruit/oak balance.

R.H. Phillips Merlot BC, 2002
California, USA - £19
A Merlot from the Dunnigan Hills region that displays typically
crunchy, blackberry fruit and ripe, velvety tannins.  A glossy
Californian that impresses

Wildekrans Pinotage, 2004
South Africa - £20
A fine example of South Africa’s  ‘own grape’ from the
Walker Bay region of the Cape.  Big, powerful and complex
with all sorts of intriguing aromas mingled with the purity of dark fruit.

Cline California Zinfandel, 2002
USA - £21
Fred Cline and his family are famous for their red “Rhoneranger”
wines and although Zinfandel is not a Rhone variety, it is a
Californian legend and they treat it with similar respect. 
Big and bold, but with real finesse and balance.

Fleurie,Domaine de Gry-Sablon,Dominique Morel, 2005
France - £22
From the heaven-sent 2003 vintage which gave healthy, ripe fruit
and small, concentrated berries, this floral Beaujolais has hints
of blackberries and cassis and is fine and round on the palate.

Lazio Baccarossa, Femar Vini, 2004
Italy - £25
A mouthfilling and velvety blend of Montepulciano and
Merlot with 12 months oak ageing in this flagship wine
of Femar Vini.

Gigondas, Domaine Cros de la Mure, 2002 
France - £26
A powerful, inky Southern Rhone red that reflects the hot
climate and dry ‘garrigue’ of this part of the Provence.

Chateau du Couvent , Pomerol, 2002 
France - £28
From the right bank of the Gironde this is a Merlot-led
Claret, with characteristic softness and style.

Vina Ardanza, La Rioja Alta, 1999     
Spain - £30
From the top quality Rioja Alta part of the region, this
has all the soft mature summer fruit and vanilla oak that
you could wish for, and so well balanced.

Amisfield Pinot Noir, 2005  
  New Zealand - £31
Soft, supple and concentrated, this wine
has great complexity, concentration and texture. 
Amisfield Pinot Noir originates from Central Otago,
an area of blossoming popularity.  
 
Glaetzer Bishop Shiraz, 2005    
Australia - £32
Colin and Ben Glaetzer specialise in producing Shiraz from
some of the finest un-irrigated vineyards in the Barossa Valley.
With the low yields they achieve huge concentration and
complexity in their wines. The Bishop is simply stunning.

Nuits St Georges Vieilles Vignes, Patrice Rion, 2005
France - £35
This high class Burgundy from the classic 2002 vintage is beautifully
balanced with supple but firm tannins and ample fruit.  Rion’s vintages
have a regime of strict canopy management and reduced yields.

Barolo Riva, Claudio Alario, 2000 
Italy - £40
Claudio Alario is a traditionalist; his Piemonte Nebbiolos are
brooding, massively structured wines that demand food that has both
body and flavour.  The Riva Barolo is his top wine which despite its
overwhelming presence still displays finesse and elegance.

Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru, St Jacques, 2001   
France - £45
Sylvie Esmonin makes voluptuous,  full-throttle Pinot that ages
superbly.  The St. Jacques wines are, according to Robert Parker, of
Grand Cru quality

Rose Wine

Domaine du Jas d'Esclans, 2005
France - £20
This salmon pink, heather dry Provence rose shows typical notes 
of herbs and Garrigue.  It is Grand Cru classified and fully organic 
into the bargain.  A fine example of how good rose can be.

Sparkling Wine

Cava, Juve y Camps, 2002      
Spain - £20 (£12 Half Bottle, NV)
Vintage Cava just has so much more character than
the mass-produced stuff . This is a beauty, with real
style and depth of flavour. 

Champagne

Hostomme Blanc de Blanc Grand Cru
France - £35 (Half Bottle £19)
A delicate Champagne made with hundred per cent
Chardonnay, which has fine citrus tones and  
biscuity fruit. An ideal aperitif.

Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label, NV
France - £45
With a beautiful body and a yellow straw colour, this
much-loved champagne has a powerful fruity nose, and
releases in the mouth complex and delicate flavours

Perrier Jouet Blason NV Champagne
France - £45
This relatively rare, sought after pink Champagne is fresh, crisp
and fruity in a very elegant style.  The "fin de siecle", slightly
decadent image of this great Champagne house is well  
supported by the wine's racy strawberry acidity.
